WAYLAND COMMUNITY QUILTERS SUPPORTS HOSPICE CARE

After 6 months of quilting bees, Wayland Community Quilters have made 40 lap quilts for patients and families of Wings Home, a program of Wings of Hope Hospice located in Allegan, MI. The group has met monthly since February with their sewing machines in tow at the United Church of Wayland. A service to bless those who will receive those quilts and those who have made them will be held at the church on Sunday, August 27 at 11 am. All are welcome to attend.

There are approximately 30 persons who have been directly involved in this effort, either by quilting or donating supplies like material or batting. The Gun Lake Women’s Club quilters have also actively supported the project since its beginnings.

Wings Home is a four bed home-like residence where those at the end of life receive around the clock care at no charge to the patient or their family. Wings Home serves approximately 80 patients and families each year.

Those with questions about the service or who wish to help support this project through sewing, quilting, donating fabric and batting or financial support are  welcome to contact Nancy Whitley at whitley.tn@gmail.com or Gail Hollinger at gailhollinger@ earthlink.net.
