UNITED BANK CONTINUES TO SPREAD THE WARMTH WITH ANNUAL BLANKET THE COMMUNITY PROJECT
Warm hearts coming together make a real difference to those who struggle to stay warm during the winter months. That’s why United Bank is continuing its Blanket the Community Project, collecting blankets at all its locations and distributing them to those in need.
The bank is encouraging anyone who can help to drop off new blankets to their local United Bank branch now through the end of the year. The bank will deliver those blankets to local organizations that serve families who are homeless or simply struggle to afford heating costs.
Last year, United Bank collected over 1,200 blankets– enough to cover the length of 26 football fields. This year, United Bank will donate one dollar to Family Promise of Grand Rapids for every blanket received. Family Promise of Grand Rapids is a local nonprofit that partners with families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, helping them get back on their feet so they can create a stable lifestyle for their children.
“As a community bank, we feel it’s our responsibility to help support struggling local families,” said United Bank President & CEO Joe Manica. “These blankets do so much more than just meet an immediate need. They serve as a reminder to our neighbors in need that they’re not alone during difficult times, and that their community cares about them.”
Founded in 1887, United Bank has more than $700 million in assets. The bank operates 12 locations throughout West Michigan, plus mortgage, wealth management and insurance divisions. A leading business lender, United Bank offers a comprehensive suite of business and personal banking products that blend cutting-edge technology with personalized service.
