Representative Steve Johnson Presents at Annual Chamber Kick-Off
On Friday, February 23, Representative Steve Johnson presented at the 2018 Chamber Kick-Off Luncheon that takes place annually in February. During the presentation, Rep. Johnson spoke of the economic upturn in our area and how area businesses are seeking employees. He stated the importance of skilled trades and how there are not as many students seeking the trades after high school. Rep. Johnson wants to make schools and students aware that there are many high demand careers such as plumbers, welders, and auto mechanics that involve trade schools and yield great paying positions. Rep. Johnson stated that our small businesses are the backbones of the local economy and how he is there to support them. Before speaking, Rep. Johnson mingled with the crowd and talked with individual business owners, local government officials and area law enforcement. The event was also attended by City of Wayland Mayor Tim Bala, Allegan County Clerk Bob Genetski, MI Attorney General Bill Schuette’s Constituent Relations Representative Brandon Sinclair, Allegan County Sheriff Frank Baker and Undersheriff Mike Larsen, MI State Police Lt.
