5 Lakes Brewery & VFW Post #7581 Announce August 26th Golf Outing

The 2nd Annual Wayland VFW Post 7581 & 5 Lakes Brewery have openings remaining for their Annual Golf Outing.  The outing is scheduled for 11:00am on Sunday, August 26th  at Yankee Springs Golf Course. All are welcome to attend this great event that supports our Veterans. The outing includes 18 holes of golf and lunch. Golfers will have an opportunity to win prizes while on the course at various golf hole contests. The outing is a four-person scramble and costs $60 per person/$240 per team (must have a full team to sign up). Expo Registrations Now Taking Place!

Vendor Registrations are now taking place for the chamber’s 14th Annual Business Expo.  The event will happen on Saturday, October 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Wayland Union Middle School, 701 Wildcat Drive in Wayland.  The purpose of the Expo is to highlight area businesses, products and services available in the Wayland and immediate surrounding area, while offering some fantastic entertainment and educational opportunities for visitors. Chamber Announces 2018 Scholarship Recipient

Chamber Announces 2018 Scholarship Recipient The Wayland Area Chamber of Commerce has proudly announced 2018 Wayland High School graduate Mitchell Nagel as the recipient of the Wayland Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship valued at $500. The Scholarship Committee looked for a variety of experiences, involvements, volunteering, and short essay answers when deciding whom to select for this scholarship. Several items stood out with Mitchell’s application including the time he devotes to volunteering in and around the community. Mitchell plans to continue to continue his education at Central Michigan University studying Bio-Medical Science and then continue his education in medical school where his goal is to become an Orthopedic Surgeon.  The Wayland Area Chamber of Commerce is proud of Mitchell and wishes him the best in his future...

Derby Day Coming to Wayland

Derby Day Coming to Wayland On Saturday, July 28th from 10:00am-1:00pm, The Laurels of Sandy Creek will be hosting Derby Day open to the public. The event will include a Pinewood Derby Race, pony rides, Kentucky Derby Hat Workshop, Potato Sack Races, Hot Dog Lunch, Popcorn, and Cotton Candy.  There will be prizes awarded for the derby races.  Kits to build the cars are free and can be picked up at the Laurels of Sandy Creek, 425 E. Elm Street in Wayland from June 18-22 from 8:00am-5:00pm. The cost to enter the race is $5.00 per entry. Wayland Memorial Day Events Announced

Wayland Memorial Day Events Announced All are invited to Wayland VFW Post #7581 Annual Memorial Day events scheduled for Monday, May 28th.  Veterans are needed for cemetery honors and parade participation. The bus for the cemetery honors will depart at 7:45 am from the Wayland VFW.  The cemetery schedule is: 8:30am Hooker, 9:00am Native American, 9:25am Germond, 9:45am St. Cyril’s, 10:00am Hill, 10:20am Elmwood. For those who would like to be part of the parade, all walkers are to be staged in the field across from the MI State Police Post no later than 10:30am. All floats are to be in line by 10:00am on Dahlia Ave. Please do NOT block driveways. Please take Park Street or Mill Street to Dahlia Ave as it is much to difficult to turn around on Dahlia to face the correct direction if you take Main St or Park St. Beginning at 11:00am is the Annual Memorial Day Parade beginning at the MI State Police Post and concluding at the Wayland VFW Post 7581.  For parade details and City Police parade rules, please view http://www.waylandchamber.org/eventscommunity. At the parade conclusion, the public is invited to the VFW to enjoy the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Mayor Bala’s Famous Cole Slaw and Baked Beans.  The cost of the lunch is $7 for the complete meal.
